Ghost Rider is a fictional comic book character that appeared in comic books published by Marvel Comics. There were several characters who took up the identity of Ghost Rider, but the most well-known alter ego of Ghost Rider was Johnny Blaze. He is a motorcycle stuntman who made a bargain with an evil demon named Mephisto to save the life of his stepfather, Crash Simpson who was dying from cancer in exchange for his soul. But later, his stepfather instead dies from a motorcycle accident. Just when Mephisto was about to take Johnny Blaze’s soul, he was thwarted by Roxanne, Crash’s daughter which stopped Mephisto. This enraged him and he exacted his revenge by binding Blaze’s soul with that of the demon Zarathos.

Whenver Johnny Blaze summons Zarathos’ powers, his flesh is consumed by hellfire and his head becomes a flaming skull. He rides a motorcycle and wields a mystical chain and hellfire comes out from his hands. When he becomes Ghost Rider, he is also known as the “Spirit of Vengeance”.

Like most popular comic book characters, Ghost Rider has also appeared in other media other than comic books. He has appearances in several animated TV series with other Marvel characters as well as video games and a series of action figures. A live-action movie was also released in 2007 starring Nicolas Cage as Ghost Rider.
